1985 saw James Black working as a Songwriter and Assistant Engineer in the UK Brit Funk band "Zuice". The band signed to Mercury Records and recorded their first album "I'm A Survivor" In 1987. It was produced by Nathan Watts who is the Bassist for Stevie Wonder,
who also worked on a Composition by James "Can't You Feel The Love"
Stevie Wonder Featured playing a harmonica solo part which is a true inspiration to Zuice and appreciation and credit to James Black and Steve Carmicheal's composition on this song that Stevie Wonder and his Legendary Bass man Nathan Watts particapted and produced.
Then in late 80s followed up by a UK TOUR as warm up for Soul Legend "Alexander O'Neal" and ( Word up) Funk Sensation "Cameo".
3rd Nation is one of the most prolific bands to come out of Helsinki.London based musician,James E. Black..better known as "JBMixx and American R&B crunner Charles E. Salter..better known as "Max'C" set the standard back in the 90ties,Charles Salter, James Black and Kari Kaivola form the group 3rd Nation. Their debut album "One Nation" was recorded with Mega Mania Records and did well in Finland landing them an international record deal with SweMix Records out of Sweden. Hit producer Stonebridge, most well known for the hit song "Show Me Love" with Robin S., produced 3rd Nations second album .."Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind".
Released in 1993, with the single .."I Believe".. landing the group their first Top10 Singles Billboard hit coming in at ..8 The song received lots of attention with MTV Europe and America playing the video, a host of remixes recorded, and noted as a DJ club favorite. The second single.. "Real Love".. a cover of the Jody Watley's,(formally from the group "Shalamar" continued to bring the spotlight on the group.
